Description Designed for laboratory personnel in the life science, medical, and biotechnology fields with no formal training in electron microscopy. Offers students practical, comprehensive instruction in the theory and practice of transmission and scanning electron microscopy (TEM and SEM). Lecture topics include design and operation of electron microscopes, electron optics, routine specimen preparation techniques, and electron micrograph interpretation. Laboratory exercises emphasize specimen preparation, microscope operation and maintenance, and production of electron micrographs.
