Seminar

BIO 4950 1 to 4 Quarter Hours
Course Level CPS - Undergraduate Semester;CPS - Undergraduate Quarter
Description Offers students the opportunity to select a topic from any area of their biology or biotechnology studies. Students read current research and prepare an oral presentation and paper, including analysis of the science as well as other perspectives. The oral presentation requires students to apply knowledge gained in prior course work, to understand and integrate classroom learning in their research, and to communicate their findings effectively to their peers and instructors. The final paper can be written as a review of current research progress, identifying current challenges and projections about future research directions, or as a well-defined and researched grant proposal. Group seminars focus on how to read and interpret a scientific paper, how to research an emerging topic, and how to write a professional paper of publication quality.
