Description Focuses on metric measurement, chemistry, and nutrition. Offers students an opportunity to learn how basic chemical concepts related to changes in the kitchen, such as the classification of matter, properties and changes in matter, the periodic table, states of matter, and acids and bases, affect cooking and baking. Shifts to biochemistry as a means of studying the food pyramid, the major nutrients, and the classification of foods. Uses metric measurement to quantify amounts of various nutrients in the food eaten every day.
