Description Offers students an opportunity to examine the roots of American thought and culture to reach a broad understanding of many of the major currents of contemporary American thought. Explores American literature from its Puritan beginnings through the turn of the 20th century. Includes works by such writers as Winthrop, Franklin, Emerson, Thoreau, Poe, Stowe, Whitney, Dickinson, Twain, and DuBois.
