Description Surveys the government and politics of the Soviet Union as it was and of Russia today. Until recently, Russia was an international superpower. Studies the history of the Soviet regime, government, economy, party, ideology, political culture, Gorbachev and his reforms, the breakup into various republics, and the problems facing Russia today. Surveys foreign policy from 1917 to the present with special emphasis on relations with the West.
