Deviant Behavior and Social Control

Course Level CPS - Undergraduate Quarter
Description Explores the conditions under which people categorize others as deviant and the processes by which persons are assigned deviant status and assume appropriate roles and self-images. Considers the development of deviant careers and their relation to deviant subcultures. Discusses group membership as a determinant of behavior, including an analysis of status and role, patterns of authority, power, and group ideology as factors in the evaluation of conduct.
