Description Examines the nexus of professions, practices, and institutions that constitute the field of biomedicine. Explores the historical roots and cultural foundations of biomedicine. Maps the industrial terrain and identifies opportunities and issues for professional communicators. Students research and report on current changes in the biomedical industry, focusing on identifying new opportunities for writers in biomedicine. Offers students an opportunity to acquire research and writing skills and to develop the ability to think in terms of complex institutions so as to locate and articulate opportunities for professional communication.
