Teaching, Learning, and Assessment: How English Is Learned and Used

The focus of this course is how languages are learned, the relationship of language to culture and what this means for designing effective classroom activities and assessing student performance. Teaching English as a Second Language is broken down and studied in more detail in this course. Students will explore theories and techniques for teaching grammar, listening, speaking, composition, reading, pronunciation, vocabulary, and integrated skills. The course will also introduce teaching English for specific purposes, such as business English, workplace English, and English for academic purposes. Designed to meet the requirements of Category 1.
