Data Communication Protocols

Introduces Local Area Network concepts, architectures, application, protocols, and components through the examination of the upper four layers of the ISO reference model: transport, session, presentation, and application layers. This course introduces and justifies the need for communications networks. Provides students with the opportunity to demonstrate an understanding of the various standards and procedures currently available for transporting data over distance through development of software programs. This course includes a computer laboratory component.

Prerequisite: ETC 4304 Data Structures with C++.
