Introduction to Databases

ETC4382 / 3 q.h.

This course examines the underlying organization of databases as a prerequisite to understanding their construction and management. Using the Access« database tool, students are given the opportunity to gain an understanding of how records and entities are constructed, retrieved, sorted, modified and maintained. Topics include access methods, attributes, indices, keys, querying, searching and matching, normal forms and access techniques. Provides an introduction to the SQL Programming Language. This course includes a computer laboratory component.

Prerequisite: ETC 4304 Data Structures with C++.
