Introduction to Data Mining in Education

Description Offers an overview of educational data mining, data preparation, and the fundamentals of using data mining software. Using the Cross-Industry Standard Process for Data Mining (CRISP-DM) methodology, illustrates the principles and practice of data mining. The course structure follows the stages of a typical data mining project, from reading data, to data exploration, data transformation, modeling, and effective interpretation of results. Offers training in the basics of how to read, explore, and manipulate data with data mining software and then create and use successful models. Expects students to demonstrate their educational data mining skills through a hands-on final project.
