Wellness and Nutrition

Description Debates the notion that ideas of wellness are culturally contingent and socially constructed. As part of that investigation, the course surveys the nexus among nutrition habits and public health, primary education and lifelong healthy habits, and emerging trends toward corporate wellness and nutrition coaching. Offers students an opportunity to study and apply the latest research and theories relating to health maintenance and preventative nutrition. Requires students to carefully reflect upon the various definitions of wellness. Explores the construction of nutrition expertise and its involvement in large public and private programs designed to motivate individuals to engage in healthy lifestyles.
