EdD Research
Our EdD program explores the link between research and practice for education professionals. Students build a strong foundation in education theory, but learn to take it a step further—applying those theories to real-life problems of practice.

Faculty members guide students through research designs best suited to bridging study and practice, starting with a problem they’ve encountered in their own work and learning how to use research to make a change in their communities.

Scholar-Practitioner Communities

Each student is assigned a faculty research adviser within their Scholar-Practitioner Community, a group of faculty and fellow students with common research interests. This group gives peers and faculty members a chance to collaborate, ask questions, and engage in discussions that support their studies.

The Scholar-Practitioner Model

Listen to Doctor of Education faculty member Jane Lohman, EdD describe this cornerstone of the program and how students will use research skills and their professional experience to investigate problems and improve practice.
