Program Overview

Program students have just finished roleplaying a meeting session.

Offered four times a year: Spring A, Summer 1, Summer 2, and Fall B

In this program you will have the opportunity to improve your speaking and writing skills while working with business cases. If you are planning to enter an American MBA program, want to get a better job or build a more impressive resume for the future, you should consider this program. In eight weeks you will become more confident and comfortable as you learn to defend your assumptions in a case class or lead your team in completing a business plan. You will build the skills and techniques to become a more effective and dynamic presenter when you do a Powerpoint presentation in English. Many graduates of this program have gone on to great success in graduate schools and professional careers in American and international companies.

• Offered four times a year
• Non-credit, full-time program (I-20 provided)
• Fourteen hours a week of instruction for eight weeks
• Designed for very advanced learners of English with business experience
• Work with business cases
• Develop effective presenting, bargaining and report writing skills

"The Business Case Program is a very challenging and extremely valuable class. I enjoyed every second of it, and I wished it was longer than eight weeks."
Robert F. Peveling-Oberhag, Spring 2007

Some of the students in the Business Case Program, Summer 1 2007.

Program Format
Classes meet four days a week with fourteen hours of instruction each week. Each class day has two major components: 1) Case Discussion (two hours and fifteen minutes), and 2) Case Skills (one hour). There are 15-18 students in each class. This class size provides maximum student participation, skill development and individual attention.

“The program is incredible. I really learned so much from both the cases and my classmates. All the instructors are helpful with genuine feedback, which was very constructive. I came in with a little knowledge, but now after this program I have gained great knowledge from both the instructors and my classmates.”
Pitchaya Hiranpradit, Spring 2008

Course Content
The course uses business cases, videotaping, and public speaking techniques to help students develop the speaking skills and confidence to become more effective participants in group discussions. The Case Discussion classes use cases to focus on improving language skills and participation techniques through simulations of team bargaining, presentation sessions, and running meetings. In the Case Skills classes, the concentration is on helping students improve the speaking, listening, leadership and writing skills necessary for presenting cases. In addition, students receive instruction in business writing skills: writing business memos as well as a business plan and a marketing report, and using Power Point to prepare agendas and presentations.
