Amy Lantinga

Amy J. Lantinga is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Foundation Year program. Dr. Lantinga teaches College English, the College Writing Workshop, and Professional Speaking, and designs a thematic-based curriculum and experiential learning opportunities for her students. In addition to teaching the Honors English Seminar, she is the faculty mentor for the Leadership Council and the Women’s Seminar, two student groups created to deepen student engagement in the program. Dr. Lantinga was honored in 2012 with the College’s Excellence in Teaching Award.

Previously, she was the assistant headmaster of teaching and learning at the Boston Community Leadership Academy and the program manager and writing coach for WriteBoston, a nonprofit aimed at improving writing proficiency among Boston middle-school and high-school students. Dr. Lantinga also served as an instructor of teaching methods and the culture of high school at the University of Massachusetts Boston and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and has brought teaching of writing expertise to programs at Harvard University and the Boston Public Schools.
