Atira Charles

Atira C. Charles is a faculty member in the Graduate Education programs, including the Doctor of Education program. Her current research focuses on race and gender in the workplace, feedback and performance appraisal systems, bias and stereotyping in the workplace, mentoring in diverse organizations, and power, politics, and emotions in the workplace.

Dr. Charles’ most recent publications include “The Intersection of Race and Politics: A Framework of Racialized Organizational Politics Perceptions” in Politics in Organizations: Theory and Research—SIOP Frontier Series. Her work has been featured in magazines such as Black Enterprise Magazine.

She is an ad hoc reviewer for the Academy of Management Annual Conference and a member of the Academy of Management, the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and the Management Faculty of Color Association. Dr. Charles is also an assistant professor of management at Florida A&M University. She has won various awards, such as the 2011 Florida State University Guardian of the Flame Faculty Award and the 2012 Florida A&M University Outstanding 125 Alumni Award.

Previously, Dr. Charles worked as an assistant professor in the department of management at Florida State University. She is currently the chief executive officer and lead organizational consultant for Think Actuality, LLC.
