Elisabeth BennettElisabeth E. Bennett is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Graduate Education programs. In the Doctor of Education program, Dr. Bennett teaches qualitative methods for the program and concentration courses in Organizational Leadership Studies. Most recently, she developed an adult learning and leadership course. Dr. Bennett’s research interests include virtual human resource development (VHRD), organizational culture and change, and informal learning in virtual environments. In 2009, she proposed a definition of virtual HRD based on her 2006 dissertation study, which researched organizational culture and intranet technology in a community hospital.

She is the co-editor of “Exploring the Construct of Virtual Human Resource Development,” a journal issue of Advances in Developing Human Resources, and is currently editing another issue that provides new perspectives on virtual HRD.

Dr. Bennett has served on the board of the Academy of Human Resource Development (AHRD). She was the virtual HRD technology and distance-learning track chair editor for the 2011 to 2013 AHRD annual conference, and is the track chair editor for the 2014 European conference, “The University Forum for Human Resource Development.” Dr. Bennett serves on the editorial boards for Human Resource Development Quarterly and Adult Education Quarterly. She has received several awards for her research, including an AHRD Cutting-Edge award, and two Excellence in Qualitative Research awards while an assistant professor with Tufts University School of Medicine.

Previously, Dr. Bennett served as the director of education research and development at the Western Campus of Tufts University School of Medicine, where she was also an assistant professor. She was formerly an assistant professor in adult and higher education at the University of Oklahoma.
