Karen G. Reiss Medwed is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Graduate Education programs, including the Doctor of Education program. Her research interests include faith-based educational leadership, teaching learning and curriculum, innovative educational technology, and, most recently, distance learning and Web 2.0 tools for the K–12 world. In particular, Dr. Medwed has studied the development of innovative practices for online course design and instruction for higher education and beyond. At the core of her research are the ways in which technology tools are used in pedagogically sound methods to increase student engagement, develop differentiated instructional methods, and provide gateways for global conversations across content areas. Dr. Medwed’s most recent work was presented in 2012 at conferences for the Association for the Advancement of Computing in Education and the Network for Research in Jewish Education. Her paper “From Traditional to Entrepreneurial” may be found in the EdITLib publications.

Previously, Dr. Medwed developed a master’s degree program in religious education for the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education. She also served as an assistant professor and the director of online initiatives at Hebrew College.
