Lucy BunningLucy Bunning is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Global Pathways and American Classroom programs which prepare international students for admission to undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Her research interests include the development of intercultural competence, pedagogy that engages language learners as researchers of communication, and technologically mediated intercultural communication.

Dr. Bunning has presented her research at numerous conferences including TESOL (Teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages), NAFSA Association of International Educators, Harvard University Summit on Adult ESL (English as a Second Language) and Literacy Education, Georgetown University Round Table on Language and Linguistics, and the Society for Intercultural Training Education and Research. She was a proposal reviewer for the American Association of Applied Linguistics conference in 2014.

Previously, Dr. Bunning taught in Lesley University’s master's programs in International Higher Education and Bilingual Education, and at Boston University’s Center for English Language Orientation Programs. Through the U.S. Department of State’s English Language Fellow Program, she taught English and conducted teacher training workshops in Rwanda. She has also provided language instruction and leadership in private and community-based language programs in France, Kenya, and the United States.
