Margaret GormanMargaret DeLaney Gorman is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Graduate Education programs, including the Doctor of Education program. Her research interests include shared leadership, knowledge acquisition and exchange, and organizational change through the lens of complex adaptive systems. Dr. Gorman’s recent publications include the book chapters: “Relational Perspectives of Learning and Knowledge Creationin Relational Perspectives in Organization Studies (2006) andForesight or Foreseeing? A Social Action Explanation of Complex Collective Knowing” in Managing the Future: Foresight in the Knowledge Economy (2004). She presents annually at national and international conferences; serves on various governing boards; has served as a reviewer for the British Journal of Management and Leadership Quarterly, including a special issue on “Leadership and Complexity”; was a founding member of GW’s Women’s Leadership Institute (2005), and is a member of an international network of faculty directors for an alternative doctoral program. Dr. Gorman has received awards for her outstanding service, including the inaugural recipient of the Academy of Management’s MOC Contribution Award and the 2004 recipient of the Graduate School of Education and Human Development’s Outstanding Alumni Award.

Previously, Dr. Gorman served as an assistant professor in Human and Organizational Learning at George Washington University for more than 20 years. She also worked in the private sector as a consultant to hospitals, schools, nonprofits, and government agencies on strategic planning and leadership development.
