Micky Cokely

Micky Cokely is a faculty member in the Graduate Education programs. Ms. Cokely is responsible for managing the special education concentration and licensure program and for teaching graduate special education courses in both the Master of Arts in Teaching and Master of Education programs. Over the past 16 years, she also has served as the University’s Special Education project manager, director of Academic Advising and Experiential Education, director of Field Placement, as well as an adjunct instructor and student teacher supervisor.

Ms. Cokely’s recent publications include Urban Teacher Performance: Assessment in Preparation and in Practice; Designing Performance Assessment Systems for Urban Teacher Preparation; and Collaboration across Universities: Connecting for Best Practices in Teacher Preparation.

Ms. Cokely volunteers as an educational surrogate parent for children and youth in foster care, a program coordinated by the Federation of Parents of Children with Disabilities. 

Previously, Ms. Cokely served as an educational consultant for Children’s Hospital, Boston, and as a coordinator of the program for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in the Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland.
