Nancy Pawlyshyn

Nancy Pawlyshyn is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Master's Leadership programs, teaches in the Higher Education Administration concentration in the graduate education programs and chairs and advises dissertations in the Organizational Leadership concentration of the Doctor of Education program. She develops and teaches both blended and online graduate courses to those who aspire to leadership roles across a spectrum of organizations. She also teaches research methods and doctoral design in the Doctor of Law and Policy program.

Her scholarship focuses on adult learning, organizational culture change, leadership development, ethics and communication, learning outcomes assessment and student success, and faculty work, development, and leadership. Dr. Pawlyshyn’s teaching assignments include two terms as a visiting professor at Northeastern's global leadership program partnerships at Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia, and International University in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

She previously served in a leadership role as a special academic officer to the dean of the College of Professional Studies, where she advanced strategic initiatives in faculty affairs including governance, promotion, and professional development. Dr. Pawlyshyn is currently the principal investigator with a 17-member research team of a study of faculty life in a non-tenure track environment. She published “New Models for Faculty Work: A Critical Need for Community" in the International Journal for Adult, Community, and Professional Learning (March 2016). She presented this work at the 22nd Annual International Conference on Learning in Madrid in July 2015. Dr. Pawlyshyn co-authored a case study, “Adopting Open Education Resources: A Case Study of Cross-Institutional Collaboration and Innovation,” in EDUCAUSE Quarterly (November 2013), based on her consulting work from 2011-2013 with the Next Generation Learning Challenges, Gates-funded Kaleidoscope Project. She is a member of the American Association of Colleges and Universities and of the Association for Authentic, Experiential, and Evidence-Based Learning, where she contributes toward building a body of evidence on the integration of electronic portfolios in teaching, learning, and assessment. In 2015-2016 she served as a grant evaluator for the University of Virginia Learning Incubator Program of the College of Arts & Sciences for the implementation of ePortfolios in foreign language teaching and learning. 

Previously, Dr. Pawlyshyn served in leadership roles including chief assessment officer in academic affairs and associate provost at Mercy College, NY; faculty and dean of social sciences, humanities, arts, and physical education/athletics at San Jose Evergreen Community College District, CA; management communication instructor and program manager at Stanford Graduate School of Business, and the chair of the Department of Communications at Simmons College, Boston.
