Neenah Estralla-Luna

Neenah Estrella-Luna is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Doctor of Law and Policy program. Dr. Estrella-Luna also is affiliated with Northeastern University’s School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs and School of Nursing, and is a research associate in the Northeastern University Environmental Justice Research Collaborative. Her research interests include public health, environmental, and climate-change adaptation policy at the state and local levels. Dr. Estrella-Luna is a Master Teacher on the research methods courses and facilitates the thesis process for all students in the Doctor of Law and Policy program. She currently teaches research methods, qualitative research methods, and policy evaluation.

Her most recent publications include the forthcoming, “Latinos and Environmental Consciousness” in Encyclopedia of Latino Issues Today; “Book Review: Remaking Boston—An Environmental History of the City and Its Surroundings” in Northeast Geographer; and “Public Participation and Communicative Interaction: The Structural Mechanisms of Institutional Bias” in Environmental Justice.

Dr. Estrella-Luna serves as the principal investigator and facilitator for the East Boston Community Commons, as a member of the planning committee for the Environmental Justice Consortium, and as the board chair and treasurer for Alternatives for Community and Environment, a statewide environmental justice organization. She is a member of the Metropolitan Area Planning Council’s Regional Climate Change Adaptation Strategy Advisory Committee and a founding member of the Boston Foundation’s Mystic River Watershed Environmental Fund Advisory Committee.
