Advanced Fire Protection Systems
Course Code: CIV 5379

This course will provide an in-depth look at the design, installation, commissioning and on-going inspection, testing, and maintenance of water-based fire protection systems, chemical extinguishing systems, fire alarm systems, smoke control systems and other fire safety systems and equipment. Particular emphasis will be placed on design and installation issues as they relate to the essentials of systems acceptance such as appropriate testing activities and documentation requirements for commissioning fire protection systems and the coordination of these activities with other trades, general contractors, registered design professionals, and building owners. An overview of the activities necessary to maintain the operability of these systems throughout their intended service life will be presented.
