Nonprofit ManagementNonprofits today require managers to have a high level of managerial expertise, oversee a wide range of responsibilities, and manage people and projects efficiently and effectively. In order to successfully lead a nonprofit organization, senior managers must possess knowledge and skills in the areas of human resources management of salaried employees and volunteers, fundraising, program development and evaluation, financial management, marketing, and legal and governance issues.
Northeastern University’s MS in Nonprofit Management is an innovative new degree program that is being launched for the first time in the fall of 2007. Both the master’s degree and the Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management incorporate theoretical approaches with practical applications to prepare students for positions in either small or large nonprofit organizations. And the curriculum is designed so students will have the flexibility to tailor the degree to their unique needs by leveraging electives in areas such as human services, health, education, and global studies.
