E-ssentials: Preparing for Online Classes

Are you nervous about taking your first online class? Not sure when to log on or where to find your syllabus? Worried about being able to reach out to your professor and classmates? Join us for this workshop where advisors will share tips on how to succeed in online courses.  

Academic Integrity and Citation

A brief introduction to producing original work and citing your sources. Join us for a workshop developed by students and academic advisors to answer these questions: What does academic integrity mean? Why is it important? How can I make sure I am not breaking any rules? Open to all CPS students, undergraduate and graduate.

Presentations 101: Using Visuals Effectively

This workshop shows you how you can use visual content most effectively in your presentation. Using different sizes, shapes, fonts  and colors you can not only make your presentation more creative, but more powerful and persuasive as well.

Presentations 101: Telling Your Story

Learn different techniques to convey you message effectively to your audience. This workshop gives clues on how to deliver your presentation so people will listen to you.


Career Development

Develop Your Career Action Plan to Achieve Your Career Goals
  • In this workshop you will learn how to develop a career action plan that 1) articulates your professional objectives 2) identifies key skills to develop and 3)identifies the actions to take to achieve the next step in your career.
Skills Mapping and Identifying Your Relevant Skills for the Job Workshop
  • In this workshop you learn how to undertake a practical assessment and mapping of your skills and strengths, supported by experiences, that becomes the building block for your resume, cover letter, elevator pitch/ networking introduction, and interviewing. 
  Resumé Workshop
  • In this workshop you will learn the fundamentals of how to put together the most powerful resumé to facilitate your job search success.
Networking and Informational Interviewing
  • Networking doesn’t have to be scary – and it is a critical component of professional success. This workshop breaks down specific tactics to help you grow and build your networks.
Job Search Strategies
  • This workshop covers how to project manage your job search, how to target jobs and companies, and key steps in applying to and interviewing for positions to find the best possible role for you.
Tell Your Professional Story -  Your Elevator Pitch
  • This interactive workshop provides you with an opportunity to share your elevator pitch and get feedback to ensure that it is clear, compelling, and effective.
 Interviewing How-To
  • This workshop covers all of the essentials of interviewing success – how to prepare, what questions to anticipate, and how to follow up effectively.
